Aubrey Writes
Thirteen players tee'd off in perfect weather and later enjoyed an excellent
lunch when we were joined by our leading supporter Kevin Murphy-O'Connor and
Bernard Funston.
A new and very popular name appeared on the trophy when our 'flying doctor'
Paul Beven ascended to great heights with a brilliant display of golf,
clinching the title by a clear two points from John Coombes, a past winner
who is always in the 'frame'!
Just imagine what a golf bore Paul would become if he managed to play more
than his six rounds a year!
Roger Segal broke his own amateur course record(and, we thought, some bones)
in the 3 wheel buggy competition. He had held the title for just over a
year, 2004, when he achieved 1 complete somersault (1st hole) and 2 slides.
This year his improved performance included 2 slides, 1 tilt, and a direct
hit on the front wall of the pro shop at full throttle!!! I'm
very pleased to report that the services of Messrs Jeffery, Beven, and
Primavesi were not required and Roger is still metatarsus intactus!
A good day was had by all.

Best wishes,
Aubrey Balhetchet.
